Pattern Altitude
Friday I made the trip from S49 in eastern Oregon to 7S9 in the Willamette valley. It was a good flight still lots of snow above 6000 ft. The onlly bad thing was that north west wind on the prop of about 25 kt. The hills are all getting green except for the areas of snow. Rivers and streams are all running high. I had to fly to DLS (The Dalles) and go down the Columbia River Gorge. This was because the FAA weather briefer told me "airmet for mountain obscurement". Anyway I had a lot of wind in the Gorge, and I held on to the yoke ready for that really good jolt. I would call it moderate turberlance. Just a little over 2 1/4 hours in the old 182. But if you enjoy flying like I do why care how long it takes?
