Another fatal ... Near Seattle

This one hits really close for some reason - I feel like that could have been me. RIP folks.

You just never hear about 17 year olds dying in small plane crashes.

You do if you've been flying long enough. :(

While I hate hearing of any fatals, hearing one where the "mission" for the flight and the demographics of the people on board match your own, always gets your personal attention a touch more than the others.

We lost one last Fri near Rock Springs Wy...... 320 Cessna left Sydney, Ne for a stop in Riverton, Wy... CAP flew the route looking for it... Den /SLC center had a fix on the VFR target that left Sydney.. Last radar hit was at 11,000 msl a mile or so where the wreckage was found... Maybe ice.:dunno:.

The guy ran the FBO in Winnamuca NV.....

Godspeed fellow aviator.:sad::sad:

HEY cut him some slack.... Living where he does the prolonged oxygen deprivation takes a toll. You have to give the folks from Baja Wyoming a little consideration. :D

I wonder what the cause was.

When it happened last month the TV shots of the site showed a very contained debris field, like it had gone straight in from altitude. Weather wasn't great at the time but not out of the ordinary for the time of year. Structural failure???

The flight left KVUO around 2320Z, and the accident was about halfway between KSPB and KKLS. I have no idea what happened, but there was not a lot of sky available for doing primary maneuvers that afternoon.

Yeah, anything northwest of Denver is near Seattle.

Flatlander thinking.

That was direct from the original KOMO story. That's what they called it. I just summarized what they had on the page at the time. Probably revised by now.

Don't know why I click on these things anymore...dammit people, fly safe.

It reminds us that we are doing the right thing when we cancel a flight.

I felt a little bad about canceling on the flight to help at Minam. It was the right call but still...

Well, that's the first time I ever heard the term "Flatlander", and Denver in the same post.

Oy. Rather unusual to hear about fatals from primary training flights. Reminds us we're all of us mortal. RIP.

Actually... We are the "Queen City of the Plains"... :)

We're in a natural "bowl". Native Americans that first settled here noticed the bowl shape of the land at the confluence of the rivers was often significantly warmer than the grassy plains "where the buffalo roam(ed)".

They were just surviving utilizing something we today know as a "temperature inversion".

Which was also the cause of the infamous "brown cloud" over Denver prior to emissions controls on particulates.

More information than you ever wanted on Denver's geography. It's Monday. I aim to please. ;)
