Last week I helped with CPR on a 9 year old.

This week?

Yesterday, I was driving in downtown Lincoln when this dude jumps out in front of my truck and lays down on the road. I stopped to block traffic and he gets up and starts taking his clothes off, chasing pedestrians, yelling at cars, any other behavior reminiscent of a drug fueled rampage.

I call the cops and started videoing when they showed up. He then breaks free from the cops and attacks me! He spun me around and was tased by the cops. The video shows his reaching into his pocket for something right as he gets to my truck. My truck is the silver one in the video. :yikes:

They want me to testify in court now. :happydance:

He is mentally ill and was just released from the mental hospital a month ago, and he just got out of jail Friday. Poor guy, hope he gets some help this time.

You, my friend, are what is known in cop circles as a sh&t magnet! Hope the weirdness stops soon and life returns to normal for you.

Of all the people, you where the lucky one. Go out and play the lottery.

This is what happens when we close all the mental hospitals and such. We let these people run the streets then we as citizens and the police have to deal with these people.

These people need help and not left to run the streets.

So what did you do when he went after you? If there were no LEOs around, it seems like it would have been appropriate to pull, or you'd be taking a beating by a big guy who could do some serious damage.

My morning has been boring so far compared to this. I walked out the garage door at 5ish a.m. for my morning walk and noted a bicycle/trailer combo parked on the sidewalk about a block away. I thought it a bit odd and started to cross the street so that I wouldn't have to pass the bike on the sidewalk. Then I see a guy standing in the flowerbed adjacent to the sidewalk. The guy is looking at his smartphone. He proceeded to lower the phone and walk through the flowerbed to a vehicle parked in a driveway. He very gently pulls on the doorhandle. Fortunately the door is locked. The guy turns away and sees me across the street. I stared at him. He got on his bike and left rather rapidly.

Since no laws were broken there's nothing really to report to LE other than a person acting suspiciously. I think that the guy is the same one I've seen dumpster diving in broad daylight. Maybe he's branching out to poaching from unlocked vehicles.

Moral of the story is to keep the vehicles and doors locked even though you might live in a quiet neighborhood. You never know who is lurking around looking for an opportunity.

There is no doubt I would have armed and defended myself if the cops weren't there.

I like the "**** magnet" call sign!

Brian Williams had more excitement than you that day.

Note to self, enraged whack jobs don't like cameras pointed at them.

When I'm working Flightline Ops at AirVenture this summer, I'll listen for ATC to say "**** magnet, rock your wings. ... Good rock, **** magnet. Cleared to land on the green dot."

Things always happen in '3's, looking forward to the next post!

Not to provide the initial upset for the stall into the spin zone but in light of recent threads...

Look, a black guy surrounded by white cops that acts dangerously/unexpectedly and somehow isn't killed instantly by all of the obviously deranged and evil cops! :rolleyes2:

You guys are a terrible influence you know. Look at me posting sarcastically...
Good to see you weren't hurt geico, people are buts. I have enough weird stories of living in the high desert with crazies/druggies

Must be something wrong with me. I've walked 3 miles to work and back for the last several years and have seen nothing more noteworthy than a public performance by some students.

It's great to know that the police have such fun, endearing tags for the citizenry they serve.

Someone must have cursed you by wishing you to live an interesting life.

I am always looking for things. I have found fires, broken water mains, lost kids, stolen cars. Its like I'm constantly on alert for danger. PTSD working overtime. :rolleyes2:

I can relate. I've often said that the best trait for success in my job is a healthy dose of curiosity.

Haha. He came right for you and you stood there.

Oh! That has not gone unnoticed! However, since he assaulted me he is being charged with multiple felons and going away fora long time. :mad2:

I knew the cops would be on him like stink on ****, but did you see him reach in his pocket as he is coming at me? I got lucky.

I had my protection locked in the truck when they showed up. ;)

Theres always ONE guy that wants to turn something into something its not. FYI Sh&t magnet is a term we use for other cops that always get into these kinds of situations.

We have WAY more endearing tags for the 'citizenry we serve' particularly pot-stirrers like yourself.

Lets try to leave this a fun little thread like Geico started instead of a Spin Zone love-fest.
