A plane hit another plane's wing while on the runway at Reagan National Airport Thursday afternoon, according to members of Congress who say they were onboard.

JIA5490 was in the queue for 15 and RPA4522 was in the hold bay for 19. For unknown reasons, 5490 did a 180, crossed 15 at S and headed to 19 via J. 5490 had to squeeze past 4522 to left and nose of DAL1391 (at the J/S intersection) to the right to get to 19. The squeeze apparently became a scuff. 5490 continued onto 19 and exited at S also ending up in the hold bay for 19, perhaps so the two captains could glare at each other.

Yeah that’s totally the reason, we need another staff to check wing clearances of taxing aircraft. lol stupid

JIA5490/CRJ9 issued LUAW 19. 5490 queries LC “did we hit something, heard a thunk or boom.” LC directs 5490 to taxi clear of 19 at S. LC queries DAL1391/A320 if he was struck (would have been right wing of 5490 and nose or L wing of 1391). 1391 says no but he sees piece of someone’s winglet on ground by the right wing of RPA4522/E75L. 19 departures placed on hold until FOD is cleared. Comms from 4522 are unclear on audio file.
