A couple friends at work keep recommending Annapolis as a town worth seeing. Is it worthwhile? Can you see anything cool within walking distance (1-2 miles), or do you need a car? I'm sure there is some yummy food, what else is there to see?

Annapolis is a fun summer day trip. GOOD seafood (and I don't like seafood - had the best she-crab soup I've ever had, there) and it's a cute town for just walking around & window shopping. not sure how tough it is to get tours of the school. lotta boats - you can do a harbor tour - maybe an hour? also fun on a summer day. there's a big WWII memorial just outside of town, I know how to get there but don't know the road names or anything.

you wouldn't need a car apart from actually getting into town - but I'd just take a cab, then.

Yes! Beside the seafood/shopping and tourist stuff, the tour of the Naval Academy is well worth the effort.

I live in downtown Annapolis. It's a great town to visit. Lots of historic stuff, nice downtown walking area, sailboat or powerboat tours are available, plenty of good food.

ANP is the closest airport. You would need to get a cab since it's too far to walk downtown from there. (Maybe four miles.) I keep my aircraft at Tipton, FME. Further away but I have hangar space there.

ANP is inside the ADIZ so plan accordingly. (Blackhawk escorts will ruin your whole day.)

Let me know if you'd like more info.

Who cares. I hear you can get cakes made out of a certain crustacean down there.

annapolis is beautiful if you appreciate old, old streets and buildings; a marvelous but small harbor, good food in quaint restaurants (i like the yin-yankee cafe if it is still there), little shops....

and the naval academy, yes the tour there, as someone mentioned...

if you hate all the above, nah. it's just an old city. :goofy:
