Anchorage Merrill Field - runway 34 overrun - plane crosses traffic 5th Ave

And of course the first thing the pilot does after coming to a stop is install the tail stand...

IIRC runway 15/34 is a little over 2500 feet. I have landed there in a Navajo so a Caravan should not have had a problem. Unless the plane had problem.

Unless I missed your “half the runway” interview sarcasm, he said the runway is half the length of the main runway (4000’) that is under construction. While 7-25 is half the length of the longest runway, the one they actually overran, RWY 34, is 2600’. I wouldn’t think that’s too challenging for a Caravan, but I haven’t flown one.

Data for Caravan from the Textron website- it should have been plenty doable, but not a huge amount of extra length.

I corrected the runway number in the thread title...

~600 feet altitude at 5,000’ from the runway (crossing Northern Lights Blvd) is a 6.8° glidepath. Several instances of greater than 1,500fpm over that last mile or so. 106 knots gs over the fence.

By comparison, several previous tracks of the same aircraft were 300-350’ at the same 5000’ location and 80 knots gs over the fence. Headwind component obviously notwithstanding.
