Somewhat reminiscent of the observation that "everything Fred Astaire did, Ginger Rogers did going backwards and wearing high-heeled shoes."
I've been privileged to meet a number of these women over the years. They are indeed special people, and the ones I've known were at least fair-to-middlin' in the airplane.
The thought of flying from the factory in a new airplane, even now, it sends a bit of a shudder down my spine. To think about flying those mass-produced airplanes away from theose factories during those years is a pucker-producing moment. Always good to see them get some ink. They deserved more.
