An Original Flygirl

Good on her. Those ladies never got the recognition truly deserved.

Somewhat reminiscent of the observation that "everything Fred Astaire did, Ginger Rogers did going backwards and wearing high-heeled shoes."

I've been privileged to meet a number of these women over the years. They are indeed special people, and the ones I've known were at least fair-to-middlin' in the airplane.

The thought of flying from the factory in a new airplane, even now, it sends a bit of a shudder down my spine. To think about flying those mass-produced airplanes away from theose factories during those years is a pucker-producing moment. Always good to see them get some ink. They deserved more.
