Hi All,

I came across this rather unusual DC-3 undertaking a Geo-Survey.

Cheers,

Owen

Apparently, the ponderous-looking probe is part of an electromagnetic system used in finding mineral deposits. Not sure how it works, but it sure is ugly. :D

Hi again,

If you look closely there's a pod beneath the belly. From what they described, this is 'let out' and towed behind the aircraft. It emits the signal down that bounces back from the earth and is captured by the aerial that surrounds the DC-3.

Cheers

I always wondered what the initials DC stood for. Now I know, Douglas Cyrano.

Could you imagine the carnage if those antenna's broke and ended up in the propeller?

Also a Basler conversion.

There will be DC3s earning a living 100 years after the first one was delivered.
