I just read a Martin Caiden book called "Barnstormers" and he had a whole section devoted to Slats Rodgers. Colorful character indeed.

Sounds like ol' Slats led a life full of adventure.

Years ago I read an article about how the military did not like Texans during WW I. Seems like they could shoot and ride horses but refused to obey orders from non-Texan officers.
