American Pie

The only problem with any interpetation of American Pie is that the singer/songwriter (Don Mclean) has, throughout time, re-interpeted the song to fit whatever "faze" the public was interested in at the time. The song (penned in 1969) does indeed relate to the deaths of Richards, Valens and Holly. Past that you can find references to it meaning something about everything from the Watts Race riots to Charles Manson.

I still love the song but prefer my own old interpetations from the 1970's...

Wow, that was great. That song was the Official Theme Song for my freshman corridor in college. One of my friends spent weeks decoding it and, as I remember, pretty much got the same take on it. One obvious missing reference from the video is the quick reference to "Lost in Space" (the TV show) when he talks about a "generation lost in space".

I really enjoyed it. It was a walk down memory lane. Thanks for posting it.
