"American Airlines jet makes emergency landing at LAX; all passengers willing to pay $10 emergency egress fee evacuated via slides"

Apparently the AA jet made an emergency landing due to smoke in cabin.

It wouldn't surprise me The other day USAir announced it will charge for Bottled water reporters then interviewed continental and Jet Blue about these Alacarte services. I think Continetal is the only one that still has free meals. Jet Blue said they don't plane on such charges and then they announce they are charing for blankets and pillows.

In JB's defense, it's a really nice blanket and pillow, and you get to keep them at the end of the flight (they come vacuum sealed in a nice little travel bag, from what I hear).

I imagine it's a reduced cost that also accounts for cleaning and rotating supply not to mention a bit of a liability issue from reusing a blanket from a prior passenger.
