Ameri-King ELT

I'm doing the annual on my own plane and the ELT went TU. Since it was an Ameri-King I was going to order the same brand to make installation simpler.

I went to Spruce and put an AK-451 in my cart. By accident I discovered that Ameri-King itself is down the tube and the ELT has a pending AD against it.

Needless to say I won't be installing a new Ameri-King.

Even though Ameri-King can't sell any ELTs I guess Spruce still can. :-(

AmeriKing was bad news even when they were around. If you want to make things easier, get an ACK ELT (these are OK). The mount is slightly different so you may have to replace that, but at least the wiring to the remote is the same piece of lousy telephone cord. If the remote isn't the same, at least it's the same form factor which means you don't have to cut any new holes in your panel.

Run. As fast as you can. AK was junk even on thei best day. Pick something else, but let AK die.
