My AME was able to get a verbal approval from the FAA to issue me a medical on the same day of the exam. I thought glaucoma is a SI but it doesn't look like a SI medical to me. I do not qualify for CACI because I'm under 40. Do I now have a regular medical? For renewals, will another verbal approval be needed?

Sounds like the AME screwed up. When you get a verbal approval for such condition it always is authroized (even verbally) as "for one year, Not vald for any class after....". Never mind. FAA will ding the AME and replace your certificate and require that you mail in the one he issued.

Go fly.

Thank you Dr. Bruce. That's what I was afraid of. How long will it take for the FAA to notice and replace my certificate?

Interesting, I seem to have developed "normal tension glaucoma", so I'll know what needs to happen.
Once I get this PCa under control (by removal in a couple of weeks.)
