Nose tip, flames, smoke, clouds, and sky... then I'll really be done. :goofy:

Nice... I had a view like that of a pair of German Phantoms that came screaming through a valley nap of the earth. No other plane exudes 'Here comes death' like a Phantom.

Thx Henning! Ya, I love the Phantom. I plan on painting several in the not too distant future. Just gotta work out the licensing, and then get at it.

BTW, nice plane in the slideshow!

I followed the link to caphenning.com. Do you make and sell boats?

I agree!

The first time I knew I had to fly was in the early 1970s when my dad took me to the Glenview (IL) Naval Air Station to watch the Blue Angels perform. They flew Phantoms at that time.

We were due East of the field and I assume show center was across the runway from us. I never heard the solo Phantom come up from behind us until he was past us, very, very low. I think I hit the deck into a ditch or something, but thought that was pretty much the coolest experience in my 11 or 12 years of life.

Among other things, yep, design work as well.;)

What kind of licensing is required to paint a Phantom?

Very nice! Most aviation art doesn't interest me, but this beautifully done and I really like the perspective. I'll be anxious to see the finished product.

I bet that must have scared the pants off ya. :yikes: Especially at that young age. The raw power of the jet age is awesome!

My dad drove us to the local airport sometimes, back in the '60's (when gas wasn't an issue) for a Sunday drive, with a short stop over at Dairy Queen. Those were the best times. Although he didn't fly, I'm sure he had the passion for it. Raising 6 kids, pretty much emptied his paycheck.

We did get the thrill of hearing the Army tanks blast away miles away in the Shilo area. Boom boom! Every other weekend.

Didn't get to see a jet until I was 16. Thrilled me to the bone! :goofy:

Nice work! I love boats, but not enough water close by to make it worth my while.

The license agreements all depend on the photographer who took the picture. So far I can't find a decent public domain high res photo to use. So I may have to license one.

There are several agreements out there. Exclusive, non-exclusive, assignments, and so on. Sometimes if I get lucky they'll just say go ahead and use it. Personal pride seeing their photo gets created into a master piece of art. :wink2:

Thx bigring! Your words are most kind.

I wanted to paint the Arrow in a different configuration. Anything outside the "traditional" is what I look to create to catch the eye.

Hopefully I'll have it completed by month's end. I'll make sure to post it then. :yesnod:

Ahh, ok. You may want to look in the US National Archives as well as Navy and AF photo archives. All the branches have their own photographers (my buddy was a Navy photog) and captured many cool and high quality images that are all public domain since the taxpayer paid for them. If I had any good Phantom shots, I'd let you have them...;)

Super, I'll do that!

BTW I found the coolest image of two F-4 Phantom jets flying in formation! My next piece of artwork must commence. : )

Thx for the tip! :goofy:
