The days are longer and warm weather is just around the corner.

No more excuses for not flying this weekend.

Where are you flying to?

Where are you headed?

Alaska. I'll be in the back, though.

It's still struggling to get above freezing here during the day.:hairraise:

I'm waiting for my check to the flying club to clear so I can pick up my keys!

I've got an ice ridge in front of my hangar and it may be there for a while. I used an ice chipper today for a half hour and was getting nowhere fast.

I'm not sure how up-to-the-moment my friend's Link(above) will read, but this afternoon the wind was gusting to 44mph; not a too far flight south of here there were gusts into the 80s. The above Link is about 5sm from my hangar. We escaped any snow here but way downeast they're getting nailed. I just came down my hill from feeding the herd of feral cats(and one fat raccoon) and the wind is howling through the trees. Hopefully, it won't continue through the weekend.

Low 50s and sunny all day this Saturday is the forecast.

Going to fly my brother somewhere for lunch, maybe do a little airwork and/or some touch and goes too.

Unless it stays like this:

KMLE 270155Z AUTO 18018G28KT 10SM OVC020 09/04 A2963

In my case I'm not flying because I got nuthin' to fly. :( Going to work on fixing that, though

Sunday the UPitt/CMU Aviators Club is going out to KBVI to go plane spotting and tour the air heritage museum. I volunteered to fly in and give free rides to the members; many of whom have never been in a small plane before. Should be a great time!

Nice way to spend a the day. Tearing down GA is easy, promoting GA is a noble endeavor.

Back to Minneapolis on Friday in the Bonanza....then back to the Bakken oil patch late Sunday...my usual weekend now!

I will be in Anchorage 4/18 to about 4/27 for work. When are you going?

I'm spending saturday night in Anchorage, but I'll be in Bethel for the duration......depending on if I get through my checkride and IOE and whether or not I'm first or second shift I might be able to do dinner in ANC one night. I'll keep you in the loop. If I end up with second shift I'll definitely be able to swing it one night.

edit: I'll be in BET until mid-april.....possibly for the duration of the month.

That's because we have a hurricane off Cape Hatteras...in March...

Ben what was your takeoff roll in that video? A foot and a half? What was the DA?

Fortunately, I've gotten to fly at least twice a month...and sometimes more...all winter.

It helps to not be working and have all the days of the week as options. Had I been limited to weekends I likely wouldn't have flown at all; the weekends have sucked almost all winter.

Touched down a little early there! :nono: :)

Windshear....;)

I try to minimize my time on the runway as they broom it all the time to satisfy the airlines... Unfortunately the airport board bought a bunch of "reconditioned" brushed and the sharp metal brissels fly out everywhere.. I have had 5 flats in the last couple of years and numerous other planes have too... They also installed runway centerline lights recently and they left them sticking up a bit too high and they will rattle your teeth if the nosewheel rides on them... I maintain perfect centerline for approach and sideshift it the very last minute..

Every flight is a learning experience..;)

DA on that flight was 6200 msl.. And I had full fuel = 65 gallons.. The thing took forever to take off..:D

Very nice!

What settings do you use! No jello effect at all!

The Go Pro Hero+3 Black Edition is way too good of a camera for my simple little mind to understand...

First flight I left it on the default setting of 1080s, 48fps and used a 64 gig chip to capture the video... Got home and my poor old computer said @@*^&!@... Had to buy a new fast puter just to watch and edit it....

On that flight I had the setting reduced to 720 HD 48fps and the 170 degree wide angle lens.... I need to figure out how to change the wide angle thingie as it makes the mountains look itty bitty...

I also was confirming the custom mount I fabricated would work and not introduce any vibration into the video.... I think I got that perfect..:)

dead calm... actually it was 2 knot direct crosswinds... A flock of birds rose up from the brush and that's why I swerved to the left to clear them... The straight pipes will scare any living thing for a few miles around..;)

mount pics.... Made out of billet 6061T6.....

Clamps on the tie down ring.. Comes off in about 30 seconds, weighs about 6 ounces...

I got to do a few laps in the pattern yesterday but the next few days look ugly here in Charlotte. I'm looking for a good weekend to do a trip to Myrtle.
