Just got a call from Pete (vontresc) He FINALLY got his Ka-6 sailplane up in the air today. woohoo!!

Damn that was quick.....

Got a chance to rig and fly the Ka-6 Finally this afternoon. It wasn't the greatest soaring weather, but good enough to go fly the thing. WOW what a difference as compared to the 2-33. I m finally flying something with some legs.

On to the flight. I have been worried for some time about the CG hook, and the fact that it is offset to the left, but it turned out to be pretty benign on tow. I went up to 2500' AGL to do a few maneuvers. Did some turns stalls etc. the only thing I really noticed was that the Ka-6 seems to have more adverse yaw than i am used to.

I managed to find a couple of small 200 fpm thermals, but nothing really of note. Unfortunately after about 30 minutes I was back on Terra firma with a big dam grin on my face.

Here are some pics.

#1 Me posing after landing
#2 Towing the Ka-6 back home
#3 Inflight shot of the panel
#4 some goofball flying his glider for the first time :D
