Airventure Tips

For someone who hates crowds and waking up in a tent covered in sweat, with the "sweltering heat", "thunderstorms", "mosquitoes", etc. what is the one thing about this fly in that makes it all worth it?
You really don't notice the crowds, the grounds are so big. Popular seminars fill up, but the tents have sufficient seating to handle it. About the only time I felt crowded was on the plaza during the monday entertainment with the bands. But just stay on the edge, no problems. Lines can be long at the popular eateries. But that's about it.

Bugs? you betcha. Deet or whatever you prefer.

What makes it worthwhile? Lots of people who like airplanes. Lots of airplanes. Lots of fun.

Speaking of bugs. Where are we at now that the show is starting? Still pretty bad?

Note: target and pic n save have pulled funding for that bus route. Eaa is paying to have the route running from 9-11 every day. Seems very short sighted by the retailers.

I camped Saturday, Sunday and Monday night. No black flies, no mosquitos just lots of grasshoppers but they don't eat much.
