someone on RAS said that he was talking to the tower during the turn and forgot that he still had the airbrakes cracked open. Not sure how much truth there is to that speculation.

Ouch!! Glad he's OK (more or less).
Whatever the cause, it was a classic base-to-final airspeed boo-boo, and I have a feeling he'll never do it again. :wink2:
