Airship Ventures Ceases Operations

Lacking Sponsorship, World’s Largest Passenger Airship Grounded as of Today

MOFFETT FIELD, Calif., November 14, 2012 – Airship Ventures, operators of the world’s largest passenger airship, the Zeppelin Eureka, have announced today that despite history-making successes and a stellar performance and safety record, they will be ceasing operations immediately.

I have corresponded with the CEO of Airship Ventures in the past. Sad that they couldn't make the business model work.
 
That is really sad. I'll miss seeing them fly all around the Bay Area. You could see that thing for miles and miles.:(

Yup, my most recent (less than a week ago!) traffic alert, from inside SJC Class C approaching Moffett --

Cherokee 74T traffic 3 o'clock 2 miles zeppelin altitude reads 1500. Not that 2 miles is a factor with that thing (it's S L O W), but I won't hear that one again for a while at least.
