We live on an airpark in AZ. Shortly, we're going to have an extra house. We're moving to a larger house with a bigger hangar and a pool. The place we're living in now will be empty.

What to do with the empty house:dunno:. I wonder if there's any market for leasing it for the Winter season to someone who wants to try airpark living?

The market is depressed enough that we won't get our money out of it, so selling it isn't a good option. (The depressed market is why we're moving to a bigger place.):D

Is there such a rental market? If so would the house have to be furnished? :(

Whoever rented it would have to agree with abiding with the CC&Rs and airpark rules.

Opinions anyone?

The place is the smaller house with the red truck parked in the drive way and the hanger door open.

I have a place in Spruce Creek Fl (7FL6) and that's what I do. I'd recommend using a property manager, 10-15% and worth the reduction in headaches. Probably the same as AZ, easy to rent Nov- apr. I think it does need to be furnished turn key. not so much in the summer....

Airpark rentals?? I had never thought of such a thing, but now I've got a whole new set of vacations to dream about!

Yeah, I have been very successful with using this place - www.vrbo.com Also maybe take out an ad in the back of the AOPA mag around September and October time frame.

I'm interested in a winter rental if you have good internet. In my line of work I can be almost anywhere as long as I have a good solid internet connection back to my work. Let me know!

You know you're doing it right when your hangar is bigger than your house :D

In the right market, its popular. Quite a few Embry Riddle students live down at Spruce Creek, but again, a specific market leads to that.

How the hell can ERAU students afford Spruce Creek rental rates??:dunno:

We've had rentals on our airpark. One time it was just someone who was non-aviation oriented who got a good deal. The other times it was people who were building elsewhere on the airpark at the time.

Often, if you get 4 or more guys in a house, it comes out cheaper than living on campus or in an apartment, if you find a smaller house that isn't super expensive.
