Air-to-Air J3 Cub (Fat Tire Cowboys)

We flew up to Slaton, TX, near Lubbock on Saturday to meet up with Bryan Rose of the Fat Tire Cowboys. We got to meet a bunch of the Cowboys... what a great group of guys. You know you're in for a good time when you see a full bar in the back of a hangar! We were there to shoot this beautiful J3, but we're also working on a story about the FTC, so we spent the night and Sunday morning we went up with 3 Cessna 185s and a 180 and did a little formation flying, so you'll see more pics from this adventure soon. For now though, enjoy the J3!

CAR3 aircraft, aerobatics are legal, and flown solo, no parachute required.

But what's that long unsupported tube coming out of the cowling? Extended crankcase breather?

When I read the title I was expecting Cubs on 31 inch tundra tires.

So now I am guessing the Fat Tire Cowboys refers to the middle age spread of the pilots.??

LOL, it is a bit confusing, but most of their planes have fat tires on them! I'll see what I have on bar photos... I may have been more interested in consumption at that point!
