I posted photos of Mark Morris' 170 that his Dad, Rusty, owned for many years. Rusty owns this amazing 1964 Cessna 172. What makes it amazing? Rusty is the second owner! He's owned it for 50 years and it's about as original as you'll find. In 2021, Rusty wond the Airventure Contemporary - Best Continuously Maintained award!

That is N5744T, our first 172 was N5799T 55 numbers later. I was a fine plane, we also had dual navcoms, but one had ILS.

That is a beautiful example of that version of Skyhawk. I loved the smoothness of the 6 cylinder engine. It was also quieter than our later Lycoming 4's. I flew many long cross countries in ours.

Ours had some rough times before we bought it, and never looked that good when we had it.

Beautiful airplane - but the coolest thing by far is the upholstery. You can replicate the original paint but it is far harder to do the original upholstery, which just gives it the best "cool" factor of anything.

It is a very nice plane and Rusty, being on the second owner, has done an incredible job keeping this plane as original as possible. I agree, the interior is probably the most impressive part of the plane!

Yeah, it's a miracle the original plastic seat backs are still there. They usually get kicked and broken, then replaced. Also the panel is just so sweet. Still has the original compass card, knobs and switches. The gyros would have been the old AN-style (if it came from the factory with that option) but those are difficult to get OH'd these days. The plastic yokes have been known to snap off in your hands in the flare, so it shows extra commitment to keep those!
