AI to determine landing and restricted status (aka stupid AI tricks)

This might be a super unique use case but I wanted to watch an airport without an AWOS so I asked Claude to build an app that will watch for traffic and determine how the airport is landing. Sure I can use nearby airports weather and we added that as a secondary source. But it’s nice when wind can along with either runway to see what local traffic is actually doing before I take off. This particular airport (31E) has a restricted area very close by so then I ask Claude to watch for traffic through it which tells me it’s cold. No traffic doesn’t mean it’s necessarily hot but if a GA plane flys through good chance it’s cold.

Was easy to do and let the AI haters yell at me but this was a small feature that slightly helped my planning so what’s the harm?

How is it accessing ADS-B data? Did you use an API to a specific platform/service or just tell Claude to go out and find it?

For Enterprise grade software, there are some concerns with code quality. For one-off apps, not sure why anyone would hate such a productive tool.

it choose to use airplanes.live as the source. but yea I just told it what I wanted and I figured it out. was actually very helpful for me today as the restricted space was hot and the landing runway wasn’t what I expected.
