Aerostats ?

Same as the one on Sugarloaf in the Keys, it's charted and angles with the wind. You use some caution.

In helicopter school they teach to fly over the towers when you see power lines. I suspect one should fly over the blimp.

BTW, I met one of the contractors that supply these blimps. He is a major player in the UFO hoaxes, along with John Lear. Love those guys!!! They and Art and George who pimp them along.

To me, a blimp tethered 10,000' in the air is a pretty big hazard to navigation. I hope they plan on putting some strobes on that cable.

Nope, the cable is on a winch, just avoid it, the same thing has been in the Keys for many decades, it rarely gets anyone. If you're flying down over the islands, when you get to Sugarloaf, you keep US1 on the right, when heading to the mainland you keep it on your left. Pretty simple.

Seems a 182 didn't see it a couple of years back..... Lost the wing and went into the drink.... There is a video of it somewhere....

I assume Sugerloaf is actually Cudgoe Key ?? (sp)..

I thought it was Sugarloaf, I lived right across and down from it and my address was Sugarloaf, but it could be Cudjoe.:dunno: yeah, some one gets it every few years, same as towers anywhere.

There have been numerous guy wire strikes on tall towers as well. But, everybody knows that.

I imagine the aerostat will be located in Aberdeen's restricted area just the one in the Keys. Avoid the radius, and you'll be good.

So; how are these things going to stop missiles from Iran and North Korea? :D

Caution: sarcasm intended.

No, they are there to enforce marylands rain-tax (yes, gov O'Money wants to tax us on the rain that falls on our roof).

Nope.. Just avoid the RESTRICTED area on the chart.. like pilots have been doing for years around all the other aerostats... Matagorda, Texas for example...

You don't have to know where it is because it's over a restricted area. It's typical Fox News anti government B.S. It's also not a suburb of Baltimore city but rather 25 miles outside the city in a huge government restricted zone that has been there since WW number one. See sectional.

You should actually read the origin of the link.. It's your liberated " Washington Post" .
