Additional Info Needed - VA Healthcare?

Hey all!

Class 1 was deferred for Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS) and Generalized Anxiety Disorder (GAD). Got my letter in the mail asking for additional information. Mostly to be expected.

My question is, does anyone have experience in obtaining the information and reports requested through their VA healthcare? It's my only healthcare provider right now, and I'd love to avoid paying out of pocket. The FAA wants reports from a "physician Board Certified Psychiatrist" for the GAD and my "treating physician" for the IBS. I have an upcoming appointment with the VA where I'm going to request referrals to see specialists.

Appreciate any tips and tricks that might help. Thanks!

Yes, we have a lot of experience with this. But it all depends on the individual physician more than being part of the VA. The main VA issue is going to be getting to see the right qualified people.

You will need the BOARD CERTIFIED psychiatrist, not the psychologist, and not the psychiatry APRN. At some facilities this is tough to line up.
