Cobalt Aviation, LLC is my independent flight training outfit that operates a beautiful 1976 Cessna 150M at the Grand Prairie, TX Municipal Airport (KGPM). I am accepting bookings for accelerated private pilot training in June and July 2017.

This is the perfect opportunity for anyone who is looking to knock out a private pilot certificate both efficiently and cost-effectively. This is a capacity-limited program that books quickly!

Total Cost: $8,500 flat-rate. (10% deposit, then remainder split into two installments.) This flat-rate includes:
  • All training materials (textbook, syllabus, written test prep software, and more).
  • 45-55 hours* of flight experience in our Cessna 150 (including both dual and solo flights [when you're ready to solo!])
  • One-on-one pre- and post-flight briefings before and after every flight.
  • Additional ground instruction as necessary for complete understanding of core concepts and the completion of the entire syllabus.
Required additional costs that are not included in the above quote are:
  • Renters' insurance (~$350/yr)
  • FAA examiner's fee ($500)
  • FAA written test fee ($165)
Special pricing for sign-ups in pairs. Grab a friend and train together!

Course Outline
Your private pilot training is based on the textbook and syllabus from ASA's The Complete Private Pilot, written by POA member Bob Gardner, and supplemented by materials from a custom training package you will receive prior to beginning training. The materials and methods I use to conduct this course have been tested and refined in four years of instructing PPL students.

Scheduling
  • 4-6 lesson days per week. Lesson content, including flight and ground training, is scheduled in accordance with structured syllabus provided in training kit. (No training on Sundays.)
  • Contingencies for bad weather, routine maintenance, and non-routine maintenance are built into the schedule.
  • Total time-to-completion (TTC) is estimated between 4 and 6 weeks.
Aircraft Information
  • 1976 Cessna 150M - N8963U - One of the world's most successful private pilot trainers.
  • New leather-upholstered seats.
  • Basic headset intercom system, dual VHF communication radios, single NAV (VOR/ILS) radio, Garmin GNC300XL GPS.
  • Certified for day and night VFR and IFR flight.

Why This Is Better Than Training at a Flight School
  • Quotes you'll receive from competitor flight schools usually only include 40 hours of flight instruction. This flat-rate includes up to 55 hours of flight training, which in most cases is sufficient for students completing this program.
  • Quotes you'll receive from competitor flight schools rarely include ground training. I provide you as much ground instruction as you need, usually around 20 hours -- and you don't pay any extra for it.
  • Flight schools cannot guarantee the availability of their instructors. The most students I train in this accelerated program at any given time is 2, so you don't need to worry about scheduling conflicts with other students.
Both DFW Residents and Non-Residents Welcome
  • The Grand Prairie Municipal Airport is conveniently located in an accessible part of the Dallas Metroplex for local residents.
  • Multiple extended stay lodging options exist within 10 minutes of Grand Prairie Municipal Airport (GPM). Transportation to and from the airport is available at no extra cost.
Information about payments, refunds for unforeseen early withdrawals from training, etc. are all covered in the training agreement.

For more information, contact me at [email protected], by calling (855) 359-2622, or by PMing me on this forum.

* The estimated range of hours provided in this quote is consistent with statistical time-to-completion (TTC) averages for all of my past students. Some students will finish in less time. Some may require more. Though not typical nor expected, those who need more than 55 hours of flight experience to meet the requirements of the FAA Airmen Certification Standards will be charged an hourly rate outlined in their training agreement.
