The management council has been dealing with a large amount of complaints regarding personal attacks being made on this forum. We have looked at this issue carefully and have determined the vast majority of these attacks are being made between a small subset of people against each other, in some cases to respond or defend against attacks against another poster.

The result is that we have lost some of the friendship that makes the forum great & some of the posters that have made positive contributions to the site. That is simply unacceptable.

We call your attention to the Rules of Conduct that you agreed to when signing up to become a member of the PoA community. The Management Council has reaffirmed it's commitment to keeping PoA an open and welcoming community rather than impose barriers to becoming a member. But with that openness comes a responsibility on the part of our members to participate with the spirit of being on the "front porch" with the other members & acting in a responsible fashion.

As a reminder, the Rules of Conduct are here: http://www.pilotsofamerica.com/forum/faq.php?faq=vb_faq#faq_faq_rules_of_conduct

For those of you who feel aggrieved, we ask that you put the past behind you and not lower yourself to making attacks in the future. If you are attacked simply report the post and we will deal with it.

If you do make a personal attack, even if you believe it to be in defense, we will suspend your account for 7 days. If you do it again, regardless of how much time has passed, we will suspend you for a month. A third and it's forever.

Understand that, when someone writes something insulting about you, to most readers, it looks worse on them than on you; it is when you react in kind that everyone starts to look bad. And since the forum is indexed on search engines, it’s obvious to the whole world.

One further note: we are also troubled by the abuse of the Anon feature in the sub forums that offer the feature. The feature is there to allow legitimate questions to be posed with a certain amount of anonymity. The MC reserves the right to delete anon posts that we determine to be abusive of the feature (that includes but is not limited to trolling, personal attacks, or "sniping" at others). We also reserve the right to block any IP addresses used for such abuse (which may cause the abuser to lose access to all of PoA).

We can't sort out what all has happened in the past. We can only focus on the future. All of us are incredibly busy with our full time jobs and our patience is running thin. We hope that you will carefully consider what you post & contribute to the community in a positive manner.
