Good morning,

Was just thinking about this: there are 3 switches about the DFDR and the CVR on the overhead panel. When you press the ground control switch, the ON function energizes the cockpit voice recorder (CVR) and the digital flight data recorder (DFDR).

1) Basically does the HOT BUS energize the black boxes to test them?
2) Are the black boxes on the AC ESS BUS BAR or the DC ESS BUS BAR?

The CVR and the DFDR are automatically energized during the following:
- On the ground, for the first 5 minutes following electrical power application.
- On the ground with at least 1 engine running
- Continuously in flight regardless if engines are operating
- CVR and DFDR both stop automatically 5 minutes after the last engine is shut down.

3) Is there any computer which controls these? You need to connect the BUS BAR'S/Batteries with the black boxes! Something has to do it! ;)
4) So for the first and last 5 minutes, it's the HOT BUS?
5) If you lose both engine during cruise, it's the EMER GEN?

6) If the engines are supplying electrical power to the black boxes, does the ground control switch overide with the Hot bus?

Thanks a lot,
TBF
