A very bold forecast the other day

Yep, that's what the forecasters at your local WFO call a one-liner. The same weather expected to occur over a 30 hour period. Pretty brazen I'd have to say...just inviting a future amendment.

Is an amendment bad or does it denote a failure on the part of the forecaster?

I'm pretty sure they eventually did amend it, or replaced it with more detail in the next TAF, but frankly, we've been stuck in the same weather pattern over the last 3-4 days. It's all been dominated by lake moisture, with weak disturbances setting off rounds of -SHSN now and then. Winds 10 kts or less out of 310-330, low stratus MVFR ceilings. Pretty much as advertised in that TAF. They could have left it as is and been good enough for government work.

I've cancelled with my CFII now twice this week on account of it. :frown3:

As always, thank you Scott. Your posts are always informative.
