ive always enjoyed the arguments in baseball. its quite an art form. Cox is a master at diverting the umps attention away from the players so to save them from getting thrown. I watched him argue a call at 1st base in Minneapolis once that was masterful. arms waving pacing back and forth, "no no no no", finally he takes off his hat and just chucks it about 30 yards into right field. ump throws him and the crowd goes wild.

Many years ago I saw an interview with Tommy Lasorda. He talked about a game that was very uneventful. The players were bored, the fans were bored. So just to spice things up a bit, after a correctly called strike against a Dodger, he charged out to the plate and started giving the ump the business. He got all up in his face yelling about how good a call it was and kicking dirt everywhere. Of course the fans couldn't hear what he was saying and they went wild. The umpire kept trying to turn away from Lasorda and he couldn't throw him out for complimenting him. It was all just for show. It was a great story!

thats hilarious frank, hadnt heard that one before

Doesn't Cox get a fine from the commissioner each time he gets tossed? Does he get a bonus to cover that?
