When I met David Pitcairn (nephew of the famous designer)a couple years ago he said he was restoring a Mailwing... might be this one.
If so, he probably got rid of it so he could finally finish that Kitfox project he'd been neglecting.

My suspicion is that you're correct. If the Museum has only had it since October 11, and it's already on display, "they" probably didn't have to do much to it in the OHTM shop.
