I wonder if his fuel reserves were "adequate". I bet he had not a pound extra when he returned to base.

I wonder what ground support they had on the mountain during this and the other landings there. If it didn't lift off for some reason or you got stuck somewhere way high in your flight suit by your lonesome, you're going to be in seriously trouble without help.



BTW: If you have FS2004 and want to do something fun, start up at the base camp they used on that flight (Lukla - VNLK). Take off, turn it around, fly back in. It's interesting.
Caution: Rwy surrounded by mountains. Depart 25 only. Approach from south, land rwy 07 only. Successful go-around not possible.
