Dear forum,

I am a new member to pilots of America and i fly in UK. I have just recently qualified as a PPL pilot and i am a person with lower limb disabilities. For me, i am realised a life long dream of wishing to become a pilot. For me aviation is about fresh possibilities and new experiences.

I am now taking my baby steps to build up hours before i take adventures around europe. I have joined this forum as i would like to become part of the wider GA community and meet like minded people, and share ideas and experiences especially with those pilots who are disabled...

skies the limit...

Welcome to the forum, and congratulations on your accomplishments. I look forward to hearing from you and sharing with you!

nice to meet you. what aircraft are you flying to accomodate your lower leg disabilities?

Hey Mr. Shoe! Glad to have you over here as well!

Everyone, Mr. Shoe is the person I was posting about in my other thread about the hand controls for rudders. He started the post on another forum that I'm also a member of.

Welcome, from the rebellious colonies.

If you feel like it, I would be fascinated to hear a bit about what you thought were unusual challenges of learning to fly with the hand controls for rudders, etc.

This is not a bad bunch of pilot people here; enjoy the trip!

Welcome aboard Mr. Shoe. As others have already said, this is the finest community of pilots on the net!

Mr. Shoe, Welcome to the board!

I'll be looking forward to your posts on how GA moves along on that side of the pond.

Earlier this year, an English chap was in North Carolina visiting friends with his wife. I had the pleasure of meeting up with him to sell him a handheld Icom at the time. He told me some interesting things about the airspace there, such as gliders can fly in IMC. That one perked my attention.

By the way, his buying a new Icom from me while here cost him about $350 for the radio, auto charger and extra battery. If I had shipped it to him, there would have been some $50 in shipping costs and another $60-75 in VAT by your government. He said the same thing there would still cost an effective $550USD in GB. Unreal!

Welcome aboard, and yes, we want to hear all about your journey to PP status, as well as the current state of GA in the UK.
