A must-read article

I thought again of my daughter and her desire to fly. I thought of the recent news my wife and I received that her son and his wife are expecting a child and that I will be a step-grandparent. Life continues. I want that little person to have the chance to decide whether to learn to fly one of these sky machines. It's worth the fight against user fees, for airports, against the moles and nay-sayers of the world; it's worth the fight to fly. I want that child to have the opportunity to step through the door to adventure.
So, some condemn AOPA for their strong fight on user fees. As Durden points out, there's a lot more to fight for than just us pilots who are around at the moment. It's the future of those we inspire with our current endeavors.

the guy can write. im glad to know him.

Good article. Why isn't this guy on POA again?

Counsel is clearly biased! :)

Yes, counsel is biased... biased by the persistent belief that the people he has met through this forum are among the most genuine, generous and good-spirited he has had the pleasure of encountering.

So the objection of bias is.... sustained!

By the way, I got a little misty-eyed reading that column, sorta like when I watch Chip's excellent video from G05.

That was a great article. The last few weeks have left me wondering "what am I doing here" in all my non-aviation job interviews. I lost my job in sales, where I was consistently unhappy and persecuted by the management. I was bummed at the time but interviewing has become my new occupation. It is a really interesting experience

They even ask "So why aren't you flying?" Listening to my own words has given me a headache....

I know the Doc will hate this one, but ag pilot school is calling to me. I practically have an engraved invitation....To carve pretty little turns in the air, once again, may be too much for me to pass up. To fly and watch the earth pass by might once again satisfy my "needs". I enjoyed pipeline patrol, mostly, except for the weather....

Doggone article, doggone love of flight, doggone me!

If I read anymore on the internet, I might just end up a working pilot. And yet here I am, reading another page. Ferrying airplanes across the Atlantic you say? (Cross reference to: http://www.pilotsofamerica.com/forum/showthread.php?t=12984)

That was a great article. My favorite part was the part about the instructor being "one of the gods". I thought that was funny, well, ironic.

He's registered- we just need to lure him into participating in what I contend to be the best on-line aviation community.

I talked to him about it when I was up at CAD, he said he hadn't logged in since he registered. :( He's on AvSig too, so chances are that takes up his aviation-forum time. Lots of good folks over there too.
