I don't know which I respect the most. The B-17 or the crews that flew them. Horrific damage and the plane and crew just keep on going.

I remember, as a kid, seeing documentaries of those B17s limping back home with huge amounts of damage. I used to think 'those airplanes really have what it takes'.

It wasn't until I got older that I started thinking more about the guys who had to fly those things through all that mess. That's when I started thinking 'those guys really have what it takes'.

My uncle flew right seat in one of those over Germany. Made his missions and came home. I never did talk to him about it. Wish I had.
