it came from another nonprofit member organization that I belong to.
Several months ago, the magazine devoted several pages to advising its members of the Board of Directors nomination and election process. The material included a detailed explanation of how members could make BoD nominations by petition.
Last month's magazine included a blurb on the front cover reminding members that the BOD election would be happening in the next month.
This month there are many magazine pages devoted to the election, proposed bylaw changes, and including 11 pages of detailed bios of 37 candidates for 26 BoD seats. Ten of the candidates were nominated by member petition. The enclosed ballot is to be mailed to Deloitte & Touche, the independent election judge.
In the Executive VP's cover letter to members he says: "To paraphrase Abraham Lincoln, remember what your vote means: It assures that the NRA remains an Association of the members, for the members, and by the members."
Quite unlike the secret society that runs AOPA.
