SHINNSTON -- Hump day took on a whole new meaning for a Harrison County woman who was sat on by a camel in the Bethlehem community.

The woman, whose name was not released, was painting a fence late Wednesday morning when the 1,500 pound camel knocked her over and sat on her, according to Rick Rock, director of the Harrison County Emergency Squad.

"The camel, that was supposedly friendly, knocked her down and sat on her," Rock said.

The victim was unable to move, but she managed to get to her cell phone and dial 911.

"She's lucky she had her cell phone on her," Rock said.

Shinnston volunteer firefighters and the property owner helped move the animal off the woman, who was having trouble breathing, ambulance driver Brent Hicks said Wednesday.

"There is no protocol on something like this," said Hicks.

The victim was treated at the scene, but she was not taken to the hospital.

Emergency crews were only on scene for about 20 minutes. Officials declined to release the names of the painter or the property owner who owns the camel.

I could just see them flipping through their manual, "Camel, camel, camel... I don't.... We have 'LLama, Rolling on Rider', we have 'Alpaca, Butting Herdsman', WAIT! - here it is; 'Camel, Sitting on Woman'..........!!"
