Miss Asko in the drunk driving case is faced with 4 felony DUI charges, which can give her as small a sentence as 30 days in jail per charge. If they counted the two deaths as separate charges, the felony DUI mandatory sentence goes to 1 year (per charge). Maximum is 15 years per charge, 25 if a death resulted. I can't find anything about her BAC. I wish they'd make an example of her, but at the same time I don't even know if that'd change the way some people think when they go out and drink.
Tomorrow (4/11) is Miss Asko's birthday, and you've got to wonder... has the reality of what she's done hit her? Does she regret what has happened? If she gets a light sentence and is released, will she go back to drinking and driving? I'd like to get as much information about this incident and make a program to show students here at Lander, but of course how many students will willingly come to the event, and will it even faze them? Sigh.
