Some sort of instrumentation for the test. The real gun, when installed does not have those.

Only to get it on the slides and back into the airframe. It is pretty neat to see how they go in and out.

There are a couple of things on the picture that need explaining. Like how the heck did the gun fire and spin with the cables attached they way they are. Those cables would have been ripped apart once the barrels started their rotation. If the barrels did not rotate then how did all the barrels get red hot? Only one barrel is used at a time.

Bet they have a different mechanism on the test stand that spins the other part of the gun and keeps the barrel steady? Or one that has multiple firing mechanisms (one per barrel) and nothing spins.

Only one barrel at a time is firing. They are all at some point in the feeding, chambering, firing, ejection sequence.
