9g1 pittsburgh area

[farmerbrake]

Anyone have any info on the 9g1 airport? Used to be called rock, labeled as Pittsburgh Northeast on the sectionals now.
Have some family in the area that I was thinking about flying up to for a quick visit. 9g1 Is really close to their house.
I notice it is closed at night.
When departing vfr would you call KPIT to let them know? I'd like to get flight following.

Thanks in advance!

Manager's ph# is (412) 443-3137 - call and ask what the deal is.

You can try kpit, see if they're not busy.
