"Roger Amidon didn't want money or a new necktie for his birthday -- he wanted to learn how to fly.
So on Nov. 29, the day he turned 90, Amidon signed up for flight lessons at Spartanburg Downtown Memorial Airport.
"I said I was gonna fly on my 90th birthday, and one thing led to another," the Minnesota-bred Amidon said in a not-so-Southern accent."
