I have some retired A&P friends that keep sending me interesting clips and pictures. Here a 747 aborts takeoff.

Every time I see something like that, it just reinforces my decision to stick with GA planes. They'll stop when you tell them to..and they don't crash as hard.
 
so much for acclerate stop and V1. at least they were going slow.

That's why some malfunctions are best taken into the air...high-speed aborts (nearing V1) are notoriously unsuccessful.

Remember, too, that if they didn't abort for an engine failure, they had 33% more thrust during the abort than the "book" numbers are based on.
