6Y9 2025 Fly in/camp out- and memories from the past

So what’s this 6Y9er thing?

Hi AdamZ, you must be new here. You'll just have to come on up and find out! 6Y9 is the airport code you can plug into the GPS, in case you are new to aviation.

A1, have you been back since you and I flew together in the ground hog? :)

Thinking of making it this year in your not-such-a-ground-hog?

Possibly. Ed/Diz: are there rooms still available for the 3 of us? Or is tenting next to the plane the only option at this point?

To follow up, we were able to book the other cabin at the Station for the weekend.

Looking forward to returning to 6Y9.

Had a website glitch (well, more than a glitch) a couple weeks go, but the attendee is looking a little sparse this year.

So you should sign up!

How moist is the field at the moment? seems like loads of rain this year?

Since the drain tile was put in a few years ago, there's been little/no concern regarding drainage. We've been up a few times this year, and one time we were up there it absolutely dumped rain, and departure the next day was 0 issue.

Unfortunately, after a 1 year hiatus last year, my parents have decided to resume our annual family Labor Day Weekend at the Lake trip. Glad to spend time with family, but REALLY wish it didn't coincide with 6Y9. Especially a NRN event like this year! Sigh.

The truck ride wasn't that bad! You can come back!

And you took advantage of that last year and came to 6Y9...but we just didn't see you, right?

I know. I know.. Last year was medical and currency issues along with me traveling nearly every week for the two months prior. And this year, I've been HOME for the past nearly two months, but still haven't taken care of currency and medical. At this point, I'm probably more likely to show up in a rig that is closer to Ted's home on wheels than I am an airplane. Sad state of affairs at the Jones household as far as aviation goes. :(

I have the Sidnaw Lodge booked but my new career has me on reserve this weekend.
If anyone wants to buy the reservation, let me know.

I have it booked 8/29 - 9/1

We made it home last night in the RV45, in time for the kids to go to bed and head to school this morning.

What a wonderful fly-in! It's hard to believe that this is the 20th one of these. I was originally there in 2008 (so I suppose that was #3?"), had a 13 year hiatus which brought me back in 2021 and have been back every year since. The kids are just as much of a reason for that as us, as they love it. 6Y9 is a special place, and I look forward to it every year.

A huge thanks to Brad and Diz for putting all the effort into hosting this fly-in every year, and all the effort they put forth the rest of the year to keep the airport itself open and operational. It keeps getting better each visit.

Us getting home around 9 PM last night:
