696 on 28 volt plug

My plane Diamond DA40, has only a 28 volt power source in the panel, I have a Garmin 696 that I want to connect to it, does anyone know if the 696 will accept the 28 volts or am I going to fry the Garmin:confused:
That would give justification for a 796 :yesnod:
