So many questions.
I can't think of one question. This is the classical "accident waiting to happen".
His plane's annual was expired too (not that it had anything to do with the accident).
That was just a few years ago. There must be a thread here on it
There were three threads on it in 2014
Was it pride or overconfidence, when given a choice to divert to a VMC airport,why wouldn't you. Couldn't have been that low on fuel ,if he tried three more approaches. If you go missed more than once it's time to find another airport.

The last annual inspection recorded in maintenance logbooks occurred on February 14, 2013
Accident occurred on December 18, 2014.
yah, the NTSB report said he reported having 8 hours of fuel remaining!
