I have been using my 496 in auto mode when we arrive somewhere, man that is greatest thing since sliced bread. This past weekend we flew to Phoenix for a friends surprise 30th anniversary party. Jumped in the rent car, fired up the 496 and off we went to the hotel. Note to self: Make sure the hotel entered in the go to is actually the one you have reservations for:rofl:. Like a dummy I used the nrst button, selected lodging, picked out the hotel name, punched go to, and drove straight to the wrong one. Luckily it was fairly close and in the same direction as the correct one. Boy did I have a red embarrased face:yes:

Better than old days. I once got to the Sheraton in Atlanta and they didn't have my reservation. After much discussion and delay they wrote me up for a room. They never bothered to mention that there was another Sheraton just 1000 feet away.

I discover this and call the other one. Yep. They had my reservation. So I dig out my printed itinerary from the travel agency. It showed that they had booked me at the one I went to - the one that didn't have my reservation! :dunno: When I called the agency to ask how that could happen. the response was, "How could what happen?"

My guess is that the agency computer had two screens, find an available room, and book a room. So they search. Sheraton Atlanta (#1) has room. Save it. Print it. Now book the room...Sheraton Atlanta (#2).

When I got married we lived in Miami, but the hotel on Key Biscayne where we'd planned everything got trashed by Hurricane Andrew. So we reset to Disney in Orlando. Now, my aunt was a travel agent, and she said she'd take care of everything. We requested the Hilton at Disney's front gare. She booked us and all of our guests at a very old, very tired Hilton at the BACK gate that only a month later lost its franchise. Same thing, except the nice Hilton did tell us our rooms were at the crappy Hilton (not in those words) but we couldn't move 50 rooms, so we were stuck with it.
