Had my "ride" today, all is well. I still have the "privilege" to pilot a single engine land airplane. Lucky for me, the cfi in question was not my primary instructor.
If so, I would have had to endure a complete "practical exam". This one was much like a BFR.
Thanks to all for their input. I would not wish this ordeal on anyone. I have been stressed out to the extreme since that fateful day when I got that "letter".

Cost for "check" out on C172R = $280
Rental for some practice $400
Rental for 709 ride $ 240
Keeping my ticket that I worked so hard to get= PRICELESS!!!!!
I am not a drinking man, but I did celebrate w/ a bottle of bubbly.

That's good news. Out of curiosity, since you may not have been "legal", did you get to log the rental and checkride time?

Yes,my ticket was not suspended/revoked at any time.
