3rd Class Medical Renewal timing

Couple of things about renewing my 3rd Class Medical.

Looks like I am going to be stuck overseas longer than anticipated and will miss getting my 3rd class medical renewed before it runs out. Will this cause any extras in the exam or the paperwork for obtaining the medical again? Will I still be able to use the new Medical feature on the FAA website?

Since my last medical I have had three physicals, one for a new company I am now working for and a couple for obtaining licensing for various Governments, US and Foreign. After I report these on my application do I have to bring anything to the AME for him to review?

In one of the medicals I was diagnosed with Tuberculosis (kinda like a bolt of lighting that one was) and subsequently went to a specialist. He told me it was encapsulated and with the test that I had been given that it would show as a positive, since I still had TB. Seems my immune system fought it off in the past, I have no idea when, and that it is now safely contained, or is till my immune system is compromised. He told me that there was a antibiotic I could take, but it really didn't get rid of the TB and they did not give it to people over 50, I am 59, so I just need to monitor it, X-ray every two years to coincide with the company physical. Is there any effect on obtaining a 3rd Class medical concerning this situation with the TB? What should I bring to the AME?

Thanks for any advice.

I won't comment on the medical aspect of your question, but it's fairly routine to gain an "extra month" on your medical by renewing it a few days after it expires at the end of the month. I don't see why an extended delay would incur any additional paperwork in itself.

There's no extra hoops generated by an expired medical. The TB issue is one for Dr. Bruce to address.

My toughest medical to get was my first one. Maybe because, I didn't know anything or maybe because that is the way they did it back then (30 years ago). The medical now has less requirements then back then. Now I never get the medical on the due month. I wait till the next month, so that for all practical reasons I have a 25 month medical. I do the same with annuals on the plane. Sometimes I even skip 1-2 months. I went 3 months after my medical lapsed and then went in and the medical was no difference then as if I was in the last month.

Some times I think the ME looks at the hours and the ratings and licences and then gives a little break for experience. Just my HO.

Thanks for all the input. I was hoping that the medical renewal would be that way. I hope Dr Bruce will chime in about the TB and what is required to bring concerning it and the physicals I have had.

Thanks again.

As above I appreciate all the feedback and thank you Dr Bruce for the information.
