Does the 396/496 have a roll steering out put? I read in some discriptions that it can interface with other avionics. How does it / can it, do this? Does it use the PC rs232 cable? I was wondering if it could be more integrated with a panel dock?

IIRC, you need a roll steering adapter like the Porcine SmartCoupler unit to hook a 396/496 to an autopilot. Of course, that's allowed only in Experimentals -- the FAA requires that a nav radio hooked to an autopilot in a Standard Airworthiness aircraft be installed and certified, which you can't do with a 396/496 (even with the panel docking station since the 396/496 isn't TSO'd, a requirement for certifying a GPS installation).
